Chunhua Li et al.

Summary: To detect tetracycline for environmental monitoring, a fluorescence sensor based on UiO-66-NH2@TpTt-COF composite was developed. The sensor exhibited strong dual-emissions of 452 nm and 575 nm, which were attenuated upon interaction with tetracycline. The sensor showed excellent sensitivity with a detection limit of 7.4 nmol/L and was successfully applied for tetracycline detection in soil and river water with high recoveries.

Heterojunction construction on covalent organic frameworks for visible-light-driven H2O2 evolution in ambient air

Guanglu Xia et al.

Summary: The production of photocatalytic H2O2 by reducing O-2 has attracted great interest, but it usually requires extra energy input when conducted in pure O-2. In this study, TpPa-1 was decorated with ZnIn2S4 nanosheets for H2O2 production under visible light in ambient air. The hierarchical heterostructure of ZnIn2S4/TpPa-1 enabled efficient visible-light absorption and O-2 capture, resulting in a significantly higher H2O2 yield compared to TpPa-1 and ZnIn2S4. The intimate interface contact between ZnIn2S4 and TpPa-1 also contributed to the improved performance. This work provides insights into the construction of heterostructures and (photo)catalytic H2O2 production based on covalent organic frameworks.

Molecularly Engineered Covalent Organic Frameworks for Hydrogen Peroxide Photosynthesis

Mingpu Kou et al.

Summary: Synthesizing H2O2 through photocatalytic approach using a bipyridine-based covalent organic framework (COF-TfpBpy) shows high efficiency in small-scale production. The resulting H2O2 solution can degrade pollutants, and the photocatalytic activity is enhanced by the protonation of the bipyridine monomer. This work demonstrates the feasibility of COF-catalyzed photosynthesis of H2O2 from water and air, and provides a foundation for wastewater treatment using photocatalytic H2O2 solution.

Defective g-C3N4/covalent organic framework van der Waals heterojunction toward highly efficient S-scheme CO2 photoreduction

Jiangpeng Wang et al.

Summary: This study introduces a novel vdW heterojunction composite of g-C3N4 with nitrogen vacancies and Tp-Tta COF, showing effective interface contact area and improved photocatalytic CO2 reduction performance. The presence of nitrogen vacancies widens the Fermi level gap between g-C3N4 and Tp-Tta COF, leading to enhanced carrier recombination and higher photocatalytic activity and stability. The efficient electron transfer and CO2 affinity of Tp-Tta contribute to the enhanced CO selectivity in the S-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst design for CO2 reduction.

Significantly enhanced photocatalytic in-situ H2O2 production and consumption activities for efficient sterilization by ZnIn2S4/g-C3N4 heterojunction

Yuanyuan Shao et al.

Summary: We report a superior carbon-related ZnIn2S4/g-C3N4 catalyst with excellent H2O2 generation and consumption capabilities for efficient sterilization under visible light irradiation. The 2D/2D heterojunction of ZnIn2S4/g-C3N4 exhibits a remarkable H2O2 yield of 4.27 mmol g(-1), which is much higher than that of current catalysts. The in-situ produced H2O2 can be quickly activated to strong oxidizing hydroxyl radicals for sterilization, achieving complete clearance of Escherichia coli (E. coli) within 25 min and 98% killing of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) after 60 min irradiation. The prepared photocatalysts enable rapid production and consumption of H2O2, providing an effective green strategy for sterilization via in-situ generated H2O2.
