A convenient protocol for the synthesis of thiazole-2-thiones from nitrobenzene, chalcones and carbon disulfide is described in this study. The construction of one C-S bond and two C-N bonds via [3+2] cycloaddition reaction is achieved using NaOH as the base in one pot, with various functional groups attached to substrates well tolerated to afford the corresponding products in moderate to good yields.
