A Cluster-Based UE-Scheduling Scheme for NR-V2X

Xinxin He et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a UE-scheduling resource allocation scheme to reduce resource collisions in a dense high mobility environment. Vehicles are autonomously clustered based on orthogonal resource sets detection, and the cluster size is determined by the cluster-joining threshold. Clustering maintenance algorithms are designed to improve cluster stability by periodically checking resource sets and vehicle movement. The proposed scheme, with detailed frame structure design and theoretical performance analysis, outperforms existing schemes in cluster stability and packet delivery ratio.

A Directional TDMA Protocol for High Throughput URLLC in mmWave Vehicular Networks

Mohammed S. Bahbahani et al.

Summary: Future vehicular wireless applications require high throughput ultra-reliable low latency communication, which is not supported by current wireless standards. Hybrid network designs combining millimeter-wave and Sub-6 GHz communications have been proposed for vehicle-to-everything (V2X) networks. In this study, we propose a linear vehicular network where vehicles in the same lane form a Lane Cluster (LC) using directional millimeter-wave antennas. Data packets are propagated along the LC in a multi-hop fashion, and omnidirectional antennas are used to disseminate packets to nearby LCs, RSUs, and cellular base stations. We also develop MAC protocols and schedule coordination protocols to address channel contention and cross-lane interference issues. Evaluations show that the proposed protocols achieve high throughput ultra-reliable low latency communication while considering the practicality of millimeter-wave technology.
