Half-Metallic Full-Heusler and Half-Heusler Compounds with Perpendicular Magnetic Anisotropy

Sergey V. Faleev et al.

Summary: This article proposes a mechanism for thin films made of Heusler compounds to simultaneously have perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) and be half-metallic. It is suggested that the thin film can undergo a tetragonal distortion by adopting the lattice constant of the underlayer material during deposition. The distortion can be tuned by using underlayer materials with different in-plane lattice constants, optimizing it to provide sufficient PMA while retaining the half-metallic properties of the Heusler compound.

Giant Anomalous Hall and Nernst Conductivities in Magnetic All-d Metal Heusler Alloys

Mohammad Farhan Tanzim et al.

Summary: In this study, the anomalous Hall conductivities (AHC) and anomalous Nernst conductivities (ANC) of thermodynamically stable ferro/ferri-magnetic all-d-metal regular Heusler compounds were evaluated through high-throughput first-principles calculations. It was found that several materials exhibited giant AHC and ANC values, such as cubic Re2TaMn with an AHC of 2011 S cm(-1) and tetragonal Pt2CrRh with an AHC of 1966 S cm(-1) and an ANC of 7.50 A m(-1)K(-1). The high AHC values were attributed to the presence of Weyl nodes or gapped nodal lines near the Fermi level. The correlations between these transport properties and the number of valence electrons were also thoroughly investigated, providing a practical guide for tailoring AHC and ANC through chemical doping for transverse thermoelectric applications.

High-throughput screening of half-antiperovskites with a stacked kagome lattice

Harish K. Singh et al.

Summary: We use density functional theory (DFT) and atomistic spin dynamics (ASD) simulations to predict stable magnetic half-antiperovskites (HAPs) M3X2Z2 and evaluate their thermodynamical and mechanical stabilities. The magnetic ground states are obtained by combining DFT calculations with ASD simulations. We have found 23 compounds stabilized at non-collinear antiferromagnetic (AFM) state and 11 compounds with ferromagnetic (FM) order out of 930 HAP compositions considered.

Chemical long range ordering in all-d-metal Heusler alloys

David Koch et al.

Summary: This study investigates the chemical ordering in Ni(Co)MnTi alloys using neutron and x-ray diffraction techniques. It is found that there is no Heusler-typical L2_1 order between Ti and Mn, and there is no ordering among Co and Ni atoms. However, the phase transition of Co containing samples can be significantly altered by changing the degree of B2 order with proper heat treatment.

Investigation on structural, electronic and magnetic properties of Co2FeGe Heusler alloy: Experiment and theory

Srimanta Mitra et al.

Summary: Experimental and computational studies were conducted on Co2FeGe Heusler alloy, revealing significantly large saturation magnetization, Curie temperature, and spin wave stiffness constant. The experimental values of Tc and D were reported for the first time, and they are among the highest reported values in the Heusler alloy domain. The study also found that the alloy follows the Slater-Pauling rule, with minor deviations explained by considering electron-electron correlation parameter and lattice strain.

A general rule for predicting the magnetic moment of Cobalt-based Heusler compounds using compressed sensing and density functional theory

Satadeep Bhattacharjee

Summary: We propose a general rule for estimating the magnetic moments of Co2-based Heusler alloys, especially when doped with late transition metals. We introduce a descriptor that can characterize both pure Co2YZ compounds and the doped ones. Our machine-learning approach is more generic than the Slater-Pauling rule since it applies to any Co2YZ Heusler compounds, regardless of whether they are half-metals or not.

Tunable eg Orbital Occupancy in Heusler Compounds for Oxygen Evolution Reaction**

Mingquan Yu et al.

Summary: Heusler compounds show potential as a new class of OER electrocatalysts due to their mechanical robustness, metallic conductivity, and tunability in electronic structure. The reactivity of Co sites in these compounds is influenced by the e(g) orbital filling, with higher catalytic activity observed as the filling approaches unity. Further research is needed to fully understand and harness the catalytic performance of Heusler compounds through manipulation of spin orbitals.

Systematic search for new Co2YZ and Rh2YZ Heusler alloys based on theoretical calculations

M. Klicpera et al.

Summary: A systematic study was conducted on Co(2)YZ and Rh(2)YZ alloys to identify new materials related to Ni2MnGa alloys, with 11 systems found to be phase-pure or containing only minor secondary phases. Magnetization measurements showed ferromagnetic ordering in both Rh and Co-based alloys, with some phases exhibiting metastability below certain temperatures. The experimental results were discussed in the context of previous studies.
