Enhanced photodetector at low-temperature via thermo-phototronic effect in N-type SnSe:Br single crystal

Lili Yang et al.

Summary: Self-powered photodetectors are crucial for passive monitoring networks and interactive intelligent platforms. This study utilizes a bromine doped n-type SnSe thermoelectric single crystal as the core element, combined with the Ag/SnSe:Br/ITO structure, to achieve low-temperature enhanced photodetection performance through the thermo-phototronic effect. The response current and voltage of the device increase by 139% and 696%, respectively, when the temperature decreases from 300 K to 100 K. Additionally, the responsivity and specific detectivity at 100 K are 7.95 and 2.74 times higher than at 300 K, respectively, indicating enhanced output performance at low temperatures due to accelerated photogenerated electrons through the thermoelectric effect. This work presents a simple structure and low-temperature enhanced photodetectors.

Local large temperature difference and ultra-wideband photothermoelectric response of the silver nanostructure film/carbon nanotube film heterostructure

Bocheng Lv et al.

Summary: In this study, we created a heterojunction by joining a silver nanostructure film and a carbon nanotube film using van der Waals force. The heterojunction exhibited excellent photothermal and photoelectric conversion properties. When irradiated by lasers with wavelengths ranging from ultraviolet to terahertz, the heterojunction showed a rapid increase in local temperature difference and output photovoltage. The maximum temperature difference achieved was significantly higher than that of other photothermoelectric materials reported in the literature. The photothermal and photoelectric responsivity depended on the wavelength of the lasers, with values of 175-601 K W-1 and 9.35-40.4 mV W-1, respectively. Our findings demonstrated that light absorption of the carbon nanotube was enhanced by local surface plasmons, and the output photovoltage was dominated by the Seebeck effect. The proposed heterostructure has potential applications as high-efficiency sensitive photothermal or ultra-wideband fast-response photoelectric materials.
