Porphyrin Functionalization of CsPbBrI2/SiO2 Core-Shell Nanocrystals Enhances the Stability and Efficiency in Electroluminescent Devices

Jan Wahl et al.

Summary: Surface ligand exchange on all-inorganic perovskite nanocrystals CsPbBrI2 leads to improved optoelectronic properties by strong interactions with mono-functionalized porphyrin derivatives, verified through experimental and computational methods. The enhanced current efficiency is attributed to a 2-3 times reduction in charging energy, determined by electronic and optical measurements on a selection of ligands. The organic-inorganic nanostructures are successfully applied in a light-emitting device with almost five times improved efficiency compared to the native ligand.

Electronic Mechanism of In Situ Inversion of Rectification Polarity in Supramolecular Engineered Monolayer

Gyu Don Kong et al.

Summary: This study describes polarity inversion in molecular rectification and its mechanism. By using a supramolecular engineered self-assembled monolayer, researchers observed a rectification ratio-voltage relationship over a wide voltage range and discovered polarity inversion. The findings suggest that the wide voltage range allows access to molecular orbital energy levels, resulting in polarity inversion.

Quantum Efficiency Enhancement of Lead-Halide Perovskite Nanocrystal LEDs by Organic Lithium Salt Treatment

Tassilo Naujoks et al.

Summary: Surface-defect passivation is crucial for achieving high photo-luminescence quantum yield in lead halide perovskite nanocrystals. In addition, treatment with LiTFSI as a halide-free surface passivation on perovskite nanocrystals can lead to improved efficiency, longer exciton lifetime, and a more favorable radiation pattern for light outcoupling in LED devices.

Mitigating the photodegradation of all-inorganic mixed-halide perovskite nanocrystals by ligand exchange

Jan Wahl et al.

Summary: This study shows that the decomposition of caesium lead halide perovskite nanocrystals under X-ray illumination is influenced by the surface ligand. It is found that surface functionalization with a metal porphyrin derivative can slow down the decomposition and alter the pathway by inducing a strong surface dipole.

Ligand-engineered bandgap stability in mixed-halide perovskite LEDs

Yasser Hassan et al.

Summary: By utilizing multidentate ligands to treat mixed-halide perovskite nanocrystals, efficient and color-stable red electroluminescence with a wavelength centered at 620 nanometers and an external quantum efficiency of 20.3% has been achieved. The key function of the ligand treatment is to 'clean' the nanocrystal surface by removing lead atoms, which suppresses the formation of iodine Frenkel defects and halide segregation. This work demonstrates the sensitivity of metal halide perovskites to surface properties and provides a pathway to control surface defect formation and migration, crucial for achieving bandgap stability for light emission and potentially impacting other optoelectronic applications.
