Modified fibrous silica for enhanced carbon dioxide adsorption: Role of metal oxides on physicochemical properties and adsorption performance

S. M. Yusof et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effectiveness of FS loaded with CaO, MgO, and CeO2 for CO2 adsorption, observing changes in textural properties and basic strength upon metal oxides loading. Different carbonate species were confirmed by in situ FTIR studies. CaO-FS showed the highest CO2 physisorption capacity, while MgO-FS exhibited the highest CO2 chemisorption uptake. The physisorption activity depends on porosity and basic strength, while chemisorption performance is determined by basic strength and CO2 affinity.

MOF-Derived Fe7S8 Nanoparticles/N-Doped Carbon Nanofibers as an Ultra-Stable Anode for Sodium-Ion Batteries

Yu Wang et al.

Summary: Fe7S8/N-CNFs, as an anode for SIBs, demonstrate excellent electrochemical properties with a high reversible capacity and superior cycling stability. The superior performance can be attributed to the presence of Fe7S8 nanoparticles, which shorten Na+ diffusion distance, and the unique 3D N-CNFs, which enhance conductivity and provide active sites for Na+ adsorption and paths for electrolyte diffusion. The design of Fe7S8/N-CNFs sheds light on developing high-performance SIBs anode materials.
