Interface engineering of charge-transfer excitons in 2D lateral heterostructures

Roberto Rosati et al.

Summary: In this study, the existence of bound charge transfer (CT) excitons at the interface of hBN-encapsulated lateral MoSe2-WSe2 heterostructures was investigated. The theoretical prediction was compared with experimental measurements, confirming the presence of low-energy CT excitons. These excitons exhibit small binding energies and large dipole moments, making them promising for optoelectronic applications.

Flexible magnetoelectric complex oxide heterostructures on muscovite for proximity sensor

Yong-Jyun Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a flexible magnetoelectric (ME) heterostructure based on CoFe2O4/Pb(Zr,Ti)O-3 composite thin film on muscovite is presented, with two geometries of the constituents adopted for comparison. The impact of flexibility on ME properties is discussed, and the ME response sustains for 10,000 times bending without significant decrease, validating the mechanical durability of this heterostructure on muscovite. A flexible proximity sensor based on this heterostructure is demonstrated for motion detection, showing potential for future practical applications.

Interaction- and defect-free van der Waals contacts between metals and two-dimensional semiconductors

Gihyeon Kwon et al.

Summary: High-quality van der Waals contacts can be achieved between metals and two-dimensional semiconductors by depositing a selenium buffer layer before metal deposition, avoiding Fermi-level pinning and improving device performance. The contacts show adherence to the Schottky-Mott rule and result in stable operation and high performance in tungsten diselenide field-effect transistors.
