SAITS: Self-attention-based imputation for time series

Wenjie Du et al.

Summary: This paper proposes SAITS, a novel method based on the self-attention mechanism, for missing value imputation in multivariate time series. SAITS is trained using a joint-optimization approach and learns missing values from a weighted combination of two diagonally-masked self-attention (DMSA) blocks. The DMSA blocks capture temporal dependencies and feature correlations, improving imputation accuracy and training speed.

A Multi-View Multi-Task Learning Framework for Multi-Variate Time Series Forecasting

Jinliang Deng et al.

Summary: Multi-variate time series (MTS) data is a common type of data abstraction in the real world, generated from a hybrid dynamical system. MTS data can be categorized into spatial and temporal attributes, and can be analyzed from the spatial view or temporal view. A novel multi-view multi-task (MVMT) learning framework is proposed to extract hidden MVMT information from MTS data while predicting. The framework improves effectiveness and efficiency of canonical architectures according to extensive experiments on three datasets.

TCCT: Tightly-coupled convolutional transformer on time series forecasting

Li Shen et al.

Summary: Time series forecasting is crucial for various real-world applications. Recent studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of Transformer in handling long sequence time series input and forecasting problems. To enhance the efficiency and locality of Transformer, researchers have combined it with CNN to varying degrees. However, the current combinations do not fully exploit the potential of CNN. In this article, the concept of tightly-coupled convolutional Transformer (TCCT) is proposed, along with three TCCT architectures that incorporate transformed CNN architectures into Transformer. Experimental results show that these TCCT architectures significantly improve the performance of existing state-of-the-art Transformer models in time series forecasting, while achieving lower computation and memory costs.

Summary: Energy management is crucial for risk assessment in UAV flights, and a deep energy model using Temporal Convolutional Networks has been developed to predict energy consumption during flight. Conditional Value-at-Risk (CVaR) is proposed as a metric for quantifying the risk of running out of battery, and is calculated based on the risk-space distribution to evaluate overall flight risk. Our energy model and risk evaluation method can enhance flight safety and assess coverage area from a proposed takeoff location.
