Spatial-Temporal Variability of Global GNSS-Derived Precipitable Water Vapor (1994-2020) and Climate Implications

Junsheng Ding et al.

Summary: Precipitable water vapor (PWV) plays a crucial role in the climate system and can be accurately estimated using global navigation satellite systems (GNSS). By comparing GNSS-derived PWV with other data and analyzing its temporal and spatial variability, we found that PWV decreases with increasing latitude and is strongly correlated with temperature and sea height variations. Additionally, the maximum PWV content occurs approximately 40 days after the summer solstice.

Evaluation of Zenith Tropospheric Delay Derived from Ray-Traced VMF3 Product over the West African Region Using GNSS Observations

Samuel Osah et al.

Summary: The study compares the VMF3 and IGS final ZTD products over five IGS stations in West Africa using eight statistical evaluation metrics. The results show that the VMF3-ZTD product performed excellently, indicating that it can be used as an alternative source of ZTD data to augment the IGS final ZTD product for positioning and meteorological applications in West Africa.

An analysis of multisource tropospheric hydrostatic delays and their implications for GPS/GLONASS PPP-based zenith tropospheric delay and height estimations

Hongxing Zhang et al.

Summary: The study evaluates multiple Vienna mapping function and VMF3-like ZHD models, proposing an improved method Trop_vertical and Trop_vertical-II for better performance, especially in complex terrains. Comparison shows deficiencies with TUW-VMF1 in certain regions, while TUW-VMF3 and GFZ-VMF3 demonstrate reliable global performance with a systematic difference between them. The study also examines the impact of a priori ZHD errors on GPS/GNSS precise point positioning solutions globally.
