The Assessment of Sustainability of Freight Transportation in Pakistan

Afzal Ahmed et al.

Summary: This study quantitatively evaluates the sustainability of freight transport in Pakistan using limited available data and compares the carbon footprint and cost differences between truck-based and rail-based freight transport. The results show that increasing the share of rail-based freight transportation can significantly reduce the carbon footprint and mitigate the impact on climate change.

Impacts of vehicle emission on air quality and human health in China

Zhenyu Luo et al.

Summary: Vehicle emissions have significant impacts on air quality and public health in China, particularly in summer where they contribute significantly to O-3 concentration. Vehicle VOC evaporation emissions play a role in increasing the sectoral contributions to PM2.5 and O-3.

A Vehicle Activity-based Windowing approach to evaluate real-world NOx emissions from Modern Heavy-duty Diesel Trucks

Rasik Pondicherry et al.

Summary: The paper introduces an alternative Vehicle Activity-based Windowing (ABW) approach to evaluate in-use NOx emissions rates by segregating engine and aftertreatment dependent modes of operating conditions. Results show that the ABW approach allows for utilizing over 90% of test activity, providing a comparison of NOx emissions levels between low and medium/high power engine operation conditions.

A comprehensive study on emission of volatile organic compounds for light duty gasoline passenger vehicles in China: Illustration of impact factors and renewal emissions of major compounds

Bowei Li et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the impact of emission control technology, displacement, cumulative mileage, and driving mode on VOCs emissions from LDGPVs. Different driving conditions lead to variations in VOCs emissions characteristics, with factors like displacement and cumulative mileage playing a dominant role in affecting emissions levels and chemical profiles.
