Stabilization of Pt nanoparticles within MOFs for selective hydrogenation of hazardous 4-nitrophenol to valuable 4-aminophenol: Confinement and synergistic effect

Muhammad Zahid et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the synthesis of Pt NPs with controlled particle size and uniform dispersion within the pores of Fe-BDC MOFs for selective hydrogenation. The Pt/Fe-BDC catalyst exhibited higher catalytic activity under mild conditions, attributed to the large surface area, pore volume, and additional functional groups of MOFs.

Ag-CeO2/SBA-15 composite prepared from Pluronic P123@SBA-15 hybrid as catalyst for room-temperature reduction of 4-nitrophenol

A. Taratayko et al.

Summary: The catalytic activity of SBA-15-supported silver and/or ceria catalysts in the reduction of 4-nitrophenol under mild conditions is enhanced by the developed Ag-CeO2 interface, which stabilizes small particles in the ordered SBA-15 structure and facilitates the cooperation of silver and ceria active sites to achieve efficient catalysis at room temperature and ambient pressure.

Facile fabrication of TiO2 with 3D hierarchical structure and its supported Pd catalysts for high catalytic hydrogenation performance of 4-Nitrophenol to 4-Aminophenol

Xiqiang Tian et al.

Summary: Different morphologies of TiO2 supports can lead to varied surface properties and catalytic activities of catalysts. This study synthesized three-dimensional hierarchical structure TiO2 using a novel evaporation-induced assisted hydrothermal approach, controlling morphology and size by adjusting the amount of Brij-35. The TiO2 supported palladium catalysts showed remarkable catalytic activity in selective hydrogenation of 4-nitrophenol due to the specific hierarchical structure and higher surface area of TiO2-SUT.

Silver decorated CeO2 nanoparticles for rapid photocatalytic degradation of textile rose bengal dye

G. Murugadoss et al.

Summary: High quality silver (Ag) decorated CeO2 nanoparticles were prepared by a facile one-step chemical method and used as a catalyst for degrading harmful textile pollutant Rose Bengal dye under sunlight with a high efficiency of 96% degradation rate after 3 hours. The enhancement in degradation efficiency was mainly attributed to the decrease in band gap and charge carrier recombination rate, with a possible degradation mechanism proposed based on the generation of oxygen vacancies due to the decoration of Ag on the CeO2 surface.

Effect of strong interaction between Co and Ce oxides in CoxCe1-xO2-8 oxides on its catalytic oxidation of toluene

Ahmed Ismail et al.

Summary: A series of CoxCe1-xO2-8 oxides were synthesized and applied for catalytic toluene oxidation, with Co0.2Ce0.8O2-8 exhibiting the best catalytic activity and maintaining stable activity in three successive tests. The strong interaction between Co and Ce oxides was found to play a key role in enhancing catalytic performance by forming a solid solution, leading to abundant active oxygen species on the surface.

Ultrasound-assisted wet-impregnation of Ag-Co nanoparticles on cellulose nanofibers: Enhanced catalytic hydrogenation of 4-nitrophenol

Vividha K. Landge et al.

Summary: A novel nanocomposite of bimetallic Ag-Co nanoparticles supported on cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) was successfully synthesized and demonstrated high efficiency and stability in catalytic applications, particularly in the hydrogenation of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP). The synthesized nanocomposite showed superior activity with 100% conversion over 5 cycles, making it a promising nanocatalyst for various catalytic applications.
