Ultra-strong optical four-wave mixing signal induced by strong exciton-phonon and exciton-plasmon couplings

Qing-Qing Guo et al.

Summary: We propose a scheme to generate ultra-strong four-wave mixing (FWM) signal using a suspended monolayer graphene nanoribbon nanomechanical resonator (NR) coupled to an Au nanoparticle (NP). The FWM spectrum can switch between two-peaked, three-peaked, four-peaked, or five-peaked by modulating the exciton-phonon and exciton-plasmon couplings. The findings offer insights into measuring the vibrational frequency of NR and the exciton-phonon coupling strength, as well as the fabrication of high-performance optoelectronic nanodevices.

Structured light using carbon nanostructures driven by Kerr nonlinearities and a magnetic field

Eric Abraham Hurtado-Aviles et al.

Summary: This study reports a significant influence of a magnetic field on the third-order nonlinear optical properties exhibited by aggregated networks of aligned carbon nanotubes, showing that the presence of a magnetic field can modify the optical transmittance in the sample and potentially generate structured light. Numerical simulations were conducted to analyze the magnetic field phenomena and electric field oscillations in the studied sample. Applications of this system to modulate structured light are immediate possibilities.

A Review on Graphene-Based Nano-Electromechanical Resonators: Fabrication, Performance, and Applications

Yang Xiao et al.

Summary: This paper reviews the progress of graphene-based nano-mechanical resonators in fabrication methods, resonant performance, and applications, highlighting the transition from theoretical simulations to experimental applications such as mass sensors, pressure sensors, and accelerometers. The focus is currently on theoretical approaches, with experiments still in early stages, but continuous advancements in device fabrication and detection techniques are expected to widen the potential for suspended graphene membranes as ultra-low-loss and high-sensitivity mechanical resonators in the near future.

Linear and Nonlinear Optical Properties of a Doubly Clamped Suspended Monolayer Graphene Nanoribbon Nanoresonator

Spyridon G. Kosionis et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the optical properties of a hybrid structure consisting of a semiconductor quantum dot and a doubly clamped suspended graphene nanoribbon nanoresonator. We obtained analytical results for the linear and third-order optical susceptibilities of the hybrid system. The linear susceptibility exhibited a single resonance whose position depended on the on-resonance exciton energy and the exciton-nanoribbon resonator coupling strength coefficient. The third-order optical susceptibility exhibited a sharp resonance at low frequencies determined by the fundamental flexural phonon mode, and a broader resonance at higher frequencies determined by the coupling strength coefficient and exciton frequency, with the amplitude solely dependent on the exciton-photon coupling strength.
