Mass fractal dimension from 2D microscopy images via an aggregation model with variable compactness

Giulia Ferri et al.

Summary: This study explores the relationship between fractal dimensions in microscopy images and the mass fractal dimension of colloidal aggregates and agglomerates using a morphological aggregation model. By analyzing scanning transmission electron microscopy images of boehmite colloidal suspensions, the researchers found a correlation between df and dp, and observed a fair agreement with small angle x-ray scattering and literature results under different acid and base concentrations.

Mathematical modeling and Magnetic Resonance Imaging experimental study of the impregnation step: A new tool to optimize the preparation of heterogeneous catalysts

L. Catita et al.

Summary: This study investigated the dry and diffusional impregnation of Ni/gamma-Al2O3 catalysts, using Magnetic Resonance Imaging to monitor the impregnation step and developing a model to accurately describe the distribution of the active phase. By adjusting two parameters, a good agreement between experimental and simulated results was achieved, demonstrating the robustness and predictive capability of the model.
