Significance of vertical vibration on the stability of thermo-bioconvection in a suspension of oxytactic microorganisms

A. K. Kushwaha et al.

Summary: This study examines the impact of vertical vibration on a shallow horizontal suspension of dilute oxytactic microorganisms heated from below. The findings suggest that high frequency and low amplitude vertical vibration can stabilize the suspension, while the absence of vertical vibration can destabilize it.

On doubly stratified bioconvective transport of Jeffrey nanofluid with gyrotactic motile microorganisms

Taseer Muhammad et al.

Summary: The characteristics of Jeffrey nanofluid flow and its influence on temperature, concentration, and motile microorganisms are investigated. The results show that the buoyancy ratio parameter and bioconvection Rayleigh number play important roles in the flow of the nanofluid, while the mixed convection parameter exhibits contrasting behavior. The temperature increases with larger variations of heat sink/source parameters and thermophoresis parameter, while it shows conflicting nature for increasing values of the Prandtl number. The concentration of nanoparticle decreases with increasing values of the Prandtl number, Lewis number, and Brownian motion.

Summary: This study primarily investigates the thermal-bioconvection phenomenon in the nanoliquid layer between two horizontal parallel walls. The presence of nanoparticles and fast swimmers destabilizes the system, while decreasing the diffusivity of the cells makes the system more stable.

Impact of vertical vibration and gyrotactic microorganisms on stability of thermo-bioconvection

A. K. Kushwaha et al.

Summary: This study investigates the stability of dilute suspension containing gyrotactic microorganisms in a horizontal layer of finite depth heated from below by using high frequency vertical vibration. The time-averaged method and linear stability analysis are used to describe the mean flow behavior of the suspension, revealing that the high frequency vertical vibration increases the thermal stability threshold. Additionally, the presence of bioconvection Pe' clet number and gyrotactic number has a stabilizing effect on the suspension, while cell eccentricity and bioconvection Rayleigh number have a destabilizing effect.

The Horton-Rogers-Lapwood problem in a Jeffrey fluid influenced by a vertical magnetic field

Dhananjay Yadav et al.

Summary: The study found that the stability of the Jeffrey fluid convection through a porous medium is reduced with an increase in the Jeffrey parameter, but increased with magnetic field parameters. The size of convective cells also decreases with Jeffrey and magnetic field parameters. The presence of a magnetic field indicates the possibility of the survival of the oscillatory mode of convection.

Influence of anisotropy on the Jeffrey fluid convection in a horizontal rotary porous layer

Dhananjay Yadav

Summary: This study investigates the stability analysis of thermal convection for a Jeffrey fluid with rotation in an anisotropic porous medium using a modified Jeffrey-Darcy model. It is observed that the rotation and anisotropic thermal diffusivity delay the onset of convection, while the Jeffrey parameter and anisotropic permeability exhibit a dual effect in the presence of rotation. The extent of convection cell decreases with rotation and Jeffrey parameters, but increases with the thermal anisotropy parameter. Previous outcomes are also regained as special cases in the current analysis.
