Study on the Design Stage from a Dimensional and Energetic Point of View for a Marine Technical Water Generator Suitable for a Medium Size Container Ship

Summary: The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the development of modern low-speed marine two-stroke diesel engines with a focus on the technical water cooling system, taking into account market requirements and design options for the shipping industry. The study analyzes various aspects of marine slow turning engines, including the thermodynamic structure of the technical water system and the design criteria for engine components. It also highlights the importance of auxiliary systems and control systems in the installation and operation of the technical water cooling system on board ships. The study concludes by emphasizing the significance of the calculations used to determine the parameters of a technical water generator for a midsized container ship.

Machine Learning Systems Detecting Illicit Drugs Based on Their ATR-FTIR Spectra

Summary: We conducted a comparative study to determine the most efficient multivariate model screening for the main drugs of abuse based on their ATR-FTIR spectra. The study involved statistical analysis, dimensionality reduction methods, and machine learning methods to assign drug class membership. An Evaluation of the Wind Energy along the Romanian Black Sea Coast

Optimization of Extraction Parameters of Anthocyanin Compounds and Antioxidant Properties from Red Grape (Babeasca neagra) Peels

Summary: This study optimized the extraction of bioactive compounds from red grape Babeasca neagra peels using a Central Composite Design and conventional solvent extraction. The effects of extraction factors such as ethanol and citric acid concentrations, extraction temperature, and duration on anthocyanin content, total phenolic content, and antioxidant activity were investigated. By establishing optimal operating conditions, the extraction process can be improved and value-added extracts from red grape peel can be obtained.

Optimization of the Parameters Influencing the Antioxidant Activity and Concentration of Anthocyanins Extracted from Red Onion Skins Using a Central Composite Design

Event-Based PID Control of a Flexible Manufacturing Process

To control these processes, an event-based controller is needed, which poses challenges in event-triggered measurement. Most event-based controllers compare error values with predefined values but do not suit event-based processes. This article presents an event-based PID controller implemented on a conveyor transportation system.

Wind Variation near the Black Sea Coastal Areas Reflected by the ERA5 Dataset

Summary: In the context of the European Green Deal, the wind farms located near the Black Sea coastal areas are expected to increase to support the initiative. The evaluation of the regional wind resources reveals that offshore areas have higher wind speed values compared to onshore areas. Selecting generators with a rated wind speed of 11 m/s for the offshore areas can lead to high capacity factors and annual electricity production.

Mobile Visual Servoing Based Control of a Complex Autonomous System Assisting a Manufacturing Technology on a Mechatronics Line

By using the Neural Designer data science and machine learning platform combined with Python, the model's output sensitivity was enhanced. Comparative analysis of various optimization algorithms, error parameters, and regularization methods was conducted, along with a new goodness-of-fit analysis.

Image Moment-Based Features for Mass Detection in Breast US Images via Machine Learning and Neural Network Classification Models

Summary: This study uses machine learning to differentiate malignant and benign masses in breast ultrasound images, achieving high accuracy and precision and aiding doctors in making accurate diagnoses. By integrating Hu's moments into the analysis of breast tumors, the proposed method extracts features that are fed into classifiers to classify tumors into benign and malignant. The combination of segmentation and Hu's moments shows promising potential in assisting clinical diagnosis of breast cancer.
