When it really counts: Investigating the relation between trait mindfulness and actual prosocial behavior

Simon Schindler et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between trait mindfulness and prosociality by examining actual prosocial behavior and exploring different aspects of mindfulness. The findings did not support a positive link between trait mindfulness and charitable donation or behavior in an incentivized economic game. The evidence for manipulated guilt-level as a moderator was inconclusive. These results suggest a more complex role of trait mindfulness in prosocial behavior.
