Efficacy of the dual-action GA-KR12 peptide for remineralising initial enamel caries: an in vitro study

John Yun Niu et al.

Summary: The dual-action peptide GA-KR12 showed antibiofilm effects by inhibiting the growth of Streptococcus mutans biofilm, and also demonstrated remineralising effects by promoting the remineralisation of enamel caries. The mineral losses and calcium-to-phosphorus ratios were significantly lower in the GA-KR12-treated group compared to the control group, indicating the potential of GA-KR12 in preventing enamel caries and promoting enamel remineralisation.

Electrophoresis-Aided Biomimetic Mineralization System Using Graphene Oxide for Regeneration of Hydroxyapatite on Dentin

Ingrid Patricia Khosalim et al.

Summary: Graphene oxide (GO) can promote the crystal growth of hydroxyapatite (HA) on demineralized dentin when used in an electrophoresis system. The addition of GO not only increased the calcium/phosphate ratio of the formed crystals but also resulted in the occlusion of dentinal tubules with rod-like crystals, leading to improved mechanical properties of remineralized dentin.

Expert consensus on dental caries management

Lei Cheng et al.

Summary: Dental caries is a chronic oral disease that poses a significant threat to human health. Despite efforts by dentists and researchers, the prevalence of dental caries remains high. Establishing a clinical difficulty assessment system for caries prevention and management based on diagnosis and classification is crucial. Dentists should conduct oral examinations and create dental records during each visit. Personalized treatment plans, based on caries risk assessment and lesion activity, are necessary to restore oral microecological balance, control caries progression, and restore the structure and function of the affected teeth. Follow-up visits should be conducted based on personalized caries management. This expert consensus focuses on caries risk assessment, treatment difficulty assessment, and dental caries treatment plans, which are essential components of caries management throughout the life cycle.

Dental tissue remineralization by bioactive calcium phosphate nanoparticles formulations

Andrei Cristian Ionescu et al.

Summary: This study characterized, tested, and compared the structure and performance of remineralizing toothpastes and topical mousses. It found that formulations containing calcium-phosphate bioactive nanocompounds were able to promote enamel remineralization and dentinal tubules occlusion. The presence of doping elements and casein phosphopeptide was essential for achieving these effects. Topical mousses showed a higher capability for dentinal tubules occlusion compared to toothpastes.
