MLMRS-Net: Electroencephalography (EEG) motion artifacts removal using a multi-layer multi-resolution spatially pooled 1D signal reconstruction network

Sakib Mahmud et al.

Summary: In this paper, a novel 1D convolutional neural network (CNN) model called MLMRS-Net is proposed for removing motion artifacts from EEG signals. Experimental results show that the proposed MLMRS-Net model outperforms other ten CNN models in terms of denoising performance, achieving better results in removing motion artifacts.

EEGANet: Removal of Ocular Artifacts From the EEG Signal Using Generative Adversarial Networks

Phattarapong Sawangjai et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a framework called EEGANet based on generative adversarial networks (GANs) for ocular artifacts removal without the need for electrooculography (EOG) recording or eye-blink detection algorithms. The results show that EEGANet performs comparably to state-of-the-art methods that utilize EOG channels for artifact removal and achieves equivalent classification performance in BCI applications.

Generative Adversarial Networks-Based Data Augmentation for Brain-Computer Interface

Fatemeh Fahimi et al.

Summary: This study proposed a framework based on deep convolutional generative adversarial networks (DCGANs) to generate artificial EEG to augment the training set and improve the performance of a BCI classifier. The results showed a significant improvement in classification accuracy with the proposed method under diverted and focused attention conditions. Using GANs for EEG augmentation can significantly enhance BCI performance, particularly in real-life applications where users' attention may be diverted.
