Palm Oil Biodiesel as a Renewable Energy Resource in Indonesia: Current Status and Challenges

Obie Farobie et al.

Summary: Indonesia has become a net importer of oil since 2004 and launched a biodiesel policy in 2006 to mitigate energy challenges. The B30 program implemented in 2020 makes Indonesia the largest implementer of biodiesel in the world. The biodiesel program has significant economic and social impacts, projected to increase the labor force to 10,182 workers by 2030 and save US$4.46 billion in foreign exchange.

Assessment of ethanol autoxidation as a drop-in kerosene and surrogates blend with a new modelling approach

Ahmad Syihan Auzani et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the autoxidation properties of real kerosene and surrogates with the presence of ethanol, developing a method to predict pressure drop and evaluating antioxidants to increase ethanol stability. The results show changes in induction period and maximum pressure with ethanol concentration, with PY being the most efficient antioxidant for ethanol.

On the origins of lubricity and surface cleanliness in ethanol-diesel fuel blends

Frank T. Hong et al.

Summary: The study found that adding ethanol to diesel fuel increases wear rates, leading to reduced lubricity. As ethanol content increases, there are more metal-to-metal contacts and thinner fuel films.

Nanolubricant additives: A review

Jun Zhao et al.

Summary: Using nanoadditives in lubricants is an effective way to control friction and wear for energy conservation, emission reduction, and environmental protection. Nanolubricant additives can be categorized into nanometal-based, nanocarbon-based, and nanocomposite-based additives, with their tribological properties and dispersion stabilities being key factors in research. The lubrication mechanisms of nanolubricant additives include tribofilm formation, micro-bearing effect, self-repair performance, and synergistic effect, posing both challenges and prospects for future research and development of novel additives.
