Influence of oxides on the formation of self-lubricating layer and anti-wear performance during sliding

Yaolin Tong et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of oxides on the formation of self-lubricating layer (SLL) in 00Cr13Ni4Mo steel through dry sliding wear tests. It is found that Cr-oxide, Fe3O4, and suitable SiO2 are crucial for endowing SLL with good self-lubricating performance.

High-Temperature Solid Lubricants and Self-Lubricating Composites: A Critical Review

Jia-Hu Ouyang et al.

Summary: This paper provides a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art progress in solid lubricants, self-lubricating composites/coatings, and their effective functions, especially at elevated temperatures. It also discusses design considerations of environmental adaptive solid lubrication and highlights the challenges and potential breakthroughs for high-temperature solid lubrication applications.

Effect of adding soft Bi2O3 on structural modification and tribological regulation of Ni-5 wt% Al composite coating in wide temperatures range

Huwei Sun et al.

Summary: A process for fabricating Ni-5 wt% Al-Bi2O3 composite coatings using atmospheric plasma spraying was developed. The addition of Bi2O3 influenced the microstructure and tribological behavior of the coatings, leading to a compact laminated hierarchy but no significant improvement in mechanical capabilities. The composite coatings exhibited temperature-mediated frictional characteristics, with superior lubrication observed at 800 degrees C due to the presence of lubricious constituents.

Interpretation of the Raman spectra of bismuth oxide thin films presenting different crystallographic phases

Osmary Depablos-Rivera et al.

Summary: Bismuth oxide thin films were studied under different deposition conditions, leading to the identification of various crystallographic phases. An unknown broad band at 600 cm(-1) in the Raman spectra was found for all films, attributed to residual weakly bonded [BiOn] units at grain boundaries. Theoretical estimations and density functional approximation were used to support the experimental data, showing good agreement.
