A novel method for the construction of beta, beta-disubstituted indanones has been developed via tandem Nakamura addition-hydroarylation-decarboxylation process. Indium(III) triflate was demonstrated as a versatile multitasking catalyst, which catalyzes three different chemical transformations under one-pot conditions.
