Strong Resistance to Early and Late Leaf Spot in Peanut-Compatible Wild-Derived Induced Allotetraploids

Maricel Gonzales et al.

Summary: Early and late leaf spots are destructive diseases in peanut. Using resistant cultivars is an economical way to manage these diseases, but there are limited sources of leaf spot resistance in cultivated peanuts. Induced allotetraploids, particularly those derived from A. stenosperma, showed superior resistance against both diseases. This study provides new genetic resources for improving peanut's resistance to early and late leaf spots.

EffectorP 3.0: Prediction of Apoplastic and Cytoplasmic Effectors in Fungi and Oomycetes

Jana Sperschneider et al.

Summary: Many fungi and oomycete pathogens secrete effector proteins to facilitate plant infection. A classifier (EffectorP 3.0) has been developed to accurately predict effector proteins in fungal and oomycete secretomes with low false-positive rates.

SignalP 6.0 predicts all five types of signal peptides using protein language models

Felix Teufel et al.

Summary: Signal peptides are short amino acid sequences that regulate protein secretion and translocation. SignalP 6.0, a machine learning model, is introduced to detect all types of signal peptides, including those applicable to metagenomic data.
