Predictors of Mortality in Older Adults With Epilepsy Implications for Learning Health Systems

Summary: This study found a high 5-year mortality rate among Medicare beneficiaries with newly diagnosed epilepsy, with lower mortality associated with female sex, Asian race, and Hispanic ethnicity. Higher mortality was observed with increasing comorbid disease burden, Medicaid coinsurance, and diagnosis of epilepsy after other neurologic conditions.
