This paper reflects on the main challenges facing the automotive industry and their impact on the global value chain. Advanced mobility, including autonomous vehicles, connectivity, and sustainability, has been identified as the key drivers of transformation in the value chain. Companies involved in advanced mobility have gained significant decision-making power, participating in high-value activities and technological innovation, and reshaping the governance model and productive geography of the traditional global value chain.
This paper reflects on the main challenges facing the automotive industry and their impact on the elements of the global value chain. Advanced mobility linked to autonomous vehicles, connectivity and sustainability have been identified as the key factors that are transforming the value chain. The companies linked to the advanced mobility have acquired a high level of decision-making power, participating in the activities with the highest added value and technological innovation, and reconfiguring the governance model and the productive geography of the traditional global value chain.
