Hydroxyapatite (HAP) nanoparticle as photocatalyst was synthesized by a wet chemistry synthesis method. Morphological SEM analysis revealed that the presence of HAP is highly dispersed nano-sphere particles which size from 20 to 60 nm. The HAP's photocatalytic activity was examined by photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange (MO) dye. The MO degradation over the HAP was indicated that MO and its intermediate (benzene contamination) were mostly degraded by HAP nano-sphere within 120 min under UV irradiation. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V.
