Nonlinear fully coupled thermoelastic transient analysis of axial functionally graded composite panel

Samarjeet Kumar et al.

Summary: This article investigates the thermoelastic behavior of axially graded composite plates and doubly-curved panels subjected to conductive-convective boundary and uniformly distributed loading conditions. The material properties of the graded panel are determined using the power-law-based Voigt's scheme, and material and geometric nonlinearities are accounted for. The temperature profile is obtained through thermally nonlinear theory, and the weak forms of motion and heat-transfer equations are derived for finite element approximation. Transient responses are computed using numerical schemes, and the coupled model is validated with analytical and experimental results.

A dual-phase-lag (DPL) transient non-Fourier heat transfer analysis of functional graded cylindrical material under axial heat flux

M. Hadi Ghasemi et al.

Summary: This study presents an analytic solution for the dual-phase-lag heat conduction in a functional graded cylindrical material. The results show that the dual-phase-lag model reaches steady temperature faster than the single-phase-lag model. The temperature stability in functional graded materials is influenced by the heterogeneity coefficient. The study provides a straightforward multivariate analytical solution for the non-Fourier conduction equation in a finite cylinder with functional graded materials and any boundary conditions.

Thermoelastic wave propagation due to local thermal shock on the functionally graded media

Kushan Prasad Verma et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of locally applied thermal shock on the ceramic side of the functionally graded domain using nonlinear thermoelastic theory. The gradation and orientation of material properties are found to have a significant impact on the propagation of thermal and elastic waves.

Nonlinear transient analysis of porous P-FGM and S-FGM sandwich plates and shell panels under blast loading and thermal environment

Abhilash Karakoti et al.

Summary: The present work develops a simple and accurate finite element formulation based on C-0 continuity of transverse displacement for obtaining and comparing the nonlinear transient response of porous functionally graded material (FGM) sandwich plates and shell panels. Through validation and parametric studies, it is observed that the amplitude of the nonlinear transient response due to different blast loading can be controlled by selecting optimal parameters.

Transient analysis of thermo-mechanically shock loaded four-parameter power law functionally graded shells

Kushan Prasad Verma et al.

Summary: This study investigates the mechanical and thermal response of ceramic-metal composite functionally graded cylindrical and spherical shells under rapidly applied mechanical and thermal loads on their inner surface. Mori-Tanaka model and numerical analysis methods are employed, and the results show that the shell response tends towards quasi-static after removal of the mechanical load.

Understanding the thermal problem of variable gradient functionally graded plate based on hybrid numerical method under linear heat source

Jianhui Tian et al.

Summary: The thermal problem of functionally graded materials (FGM) under linear heat source is studied using a hybrid numerical method. The heat conduction equation is established based on the weighted residual method and the temperature distribution is analyzed. Results show that the closer to the heat source, the greater the influence, and higher gradient parameters lead to higher temperature at location points, with a positive correlation between gradient parameters and temperature distribution at observation points.

An experimental and straightforward approach to simultaneously estimate temperature-dependent thermophysical properties of metallic materials

Nicolas Pinheiro Ramos et al.

Summary: This article presents an experimental technique for simultaneous estimation of temperature-dependent thermal conductivity and specific heat of metals, using a thermal model and transient temperature measurements. The study reveals prior information about estimation feasibility and confirms the reliability of experimental results through sensitivity analysis and non-linear function minimization technique. The statistical study and comparison with literature demonstrate the robustness of the results.
