Tungsten oxide-copper oxide supported on reduced graphene oxide as a proficient electrocatalyst with enhanced hydrogen evolution efficiency in an alkaline media

Khadijah Mohammedsaleh Katubi et al.

Summary: This study focuses on hydrogen production through electrocatalysis using a newly synthesized and characterized nano-hybrid composite electrocatalyst. The electrocatalyst consists of mixed metal oxides and reduced graphene oxide. Various characterization techniques were used to evaluate the structural and morphological characteristics of the electrocatalyst. Electrochemical methods, including linear sweep voltammetry, Tafel slope, and electrochemical active surface area measurements, provided valuable insights into the catalytic efficiency and effectiveness of the electrocatalyst for the hydrogen evolution reaction. The findings demonstrate that the electrocatalyst WO3-CuO/rGO exhibits exceptional catalytic efficiency, with a current density of 200 mA/cm2 at an overpotential of -400 mV, a Tafel slope of 44 mVdec(-1), and low charge transfer resistance. Furthermore, chronoamperometric analysis confirms the electrocatalyst's durability and potential for practical applications.

Lactic acid conversion into acrylic acid and other products over natural and synthetic zeolite catalysts: theoretical and experimental studies

Natalia Sobu et al.

Summary: In this study, a theoretical and experimental approach for the production of acrylic acid from lactic acid using various zeolite catalysts was designed. The synthetic BEA and natural clinoptilolite CLI zeolites modified with metals (Sn, Co, Cu, and Fe) were prepared using an ion exchange method. The results showed that the metal M-O-M dimers were stable above oxygen bound with aluminum centers of the BEA and CLI zeolites. The investigated catalysts exhibited trends in the formation of by-products such as acrylic acid, pyruvic acid, 2,3-pentanedione, and acetaldehyde.
