Efficacy and safety of a novel cryoballoon ablation system: multicentre comparison of 1-year outcome

Sven Knecht et al.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the 1-year efficacy and safety of a novel cryoballoon ablation system with the standard cryoballoon ablation system for pulmonary vein isolation. The results showed no differences in efficacy and safety between the two systems after a single procedure and a follow-up of 12 months.

Comparison of procedural efficacy and biophysical parameters between two competing cryoballoon technologies for pulmonary vein isolation: Insights from an initial multicenter experience

Sing-Chien Yap et al.

Summary: Our study compared the procedural efficacy and biophysical characteristics of the novel cryoballoon system POLARx with the established AFA-Pro system for atrial fibrillation treatment. The results showed similar acute isolation rates between the two systems, with POLARx requiring longer procedure and balloon in body times, but showing faster cooling rates and lower balloon temperatures.

Cryoballoon Ablation as Initial Therapy for Atrial Fibrillation

Oussama M. Wazni et al.

Summary: In this multicenter trial, cryoballoon ablation as initial therapy was found to be superior to drug therapy in preventing atrial arrhythmia recurrence in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. Serious procedure-related adverse events were uncommon.

Cryoablation or Drug Therapy for Initial Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation

Jason G. Andrade et al.

Summary: In patients with symptomatic, paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, catheter cryoballoon ablation was associated with a significantly lower rate of atrial fibrillation recurrence compared to antiarrhythmic drug therapy. The ablation group also had better outcomes in terms of atrial tachyarrhythmia occurrence and atrial fibrillation burden.

First experience of POLARx™ versus Arctic Front Advance™: An early technology comparison

Antonio Creta et al.

Summary: The study compared the new POLARx cryoballoon technology with the incumbent Arctic Front Advance in AF ablation procedures, finding similar procedure times but slightly higher left atrial dwell time and fluoroscopy time with POLARx. The POLARx technology achieved lower measured nadir and isolation balloon temperatures, with low rates of procedural complications.

Acute safety, efficacy, and advantages of a novel cryoballoon ablation system for pulmonary vein isolation in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation: initial clinical experience

Ante Anic et al.

Summary: The study evaluated a novel cryoballoon system for acute safety and performance in 30 patients with atrial fibrillation, demonstrating a high success rate of vein isolation. In the subset of 24 patients followed up for 1 year, 71% remained free of atrial arrhythmias.
