Renewable Energy and CO2 Emissions: Evidence from Rapidly Urbanizing Countries

Summary: This study examines the relationship between renewable energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions in rapidly urbanizing countries, which has been largely overlooked in previous research. The study finds that renewable energy can help reduce carbon dioxide emissions and that the quality of institutions plays a mediating role in the relationship between renewables and environmental degradation. The findings have important policy implications.

The Impact of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies on Environmental Quality in OECD Countries

Summary: This paper explores the impact of energy efficiency and renewable energy strategies adoption on CO2 emissions in 36 OECD countries from 2000 to 2019. The study finds that energy efficiency and renewable energy contribute to decreasing emissions, with hydropower and wind energy having a significant impact while solar energy does not. Additionally, fossil fuels are found to worsen environmental quality.
