Dental manifestation and management of hypophosphatasia

Rena Okawa et al.

Summary: Hypophosphatasia is an inherited metabolic disorder characterized by defective mineralization of bones and teeth. Enzyme replacement therapy has greatly improved the prognosis of severe patients. Dental symptoms, such as early exfoliation of primary teeth, can be improved with enzyme replacement therapy. Mild patients have different genetic and dental manifestations compared to severe forms. Early diagnosis is important for intervention in both medical and dental fields.
