The genus Acinetobacter includes both environmental species and opportunistic human pathogens. Many species are capable of natural transformation, which is an important mechanism of horizontal gene transfer. In this study, we present the genome sequences of 19 Acinetobacter strains that have been or will be used in studies of natural transformation.
The genus Acinetobacter contains environmental species as well as opportunistic pathogens of humans. Several species are competent for natural transformation, an important mechanism of horizontal gene transfer. Here, we present the genome sequences of 19 Acinetobacter strains used in past and upcoming studies of natural transformation.
