The Crude Oil International Trade Competition Networks: Evolution Trends and Estimating Potential Competition Links

Xuanru Zhou et al.

Summary: In this paper, the authors analyze the competition pattern of global crude oil trade and develop a prediction model for crude oil competition relationships. The findings suggest that the import competition center of crude oil has shifted from Europe and America to the Asia-Pacific region and may continue to shift to developing regions. The core of crude oil export competition has begun to shift from traditional exporters to emerging countries with the United States becoming the world's largest crude oil exporter. Attention should be paid to the trend of the United States as it may lead to a restructuring of the global oil trade pattern.
