Recruiting and retaining parents in behavioral intervention trials: Strategies to consider

Summary: Recruitment and retention strategies were successfully implemented to recruit and retain parents of young children newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes for over 15 months in a two-site RCT. The strategies included collaboration with medical teams, careful selection and training of study staff, use of financial incentives, and creation of a study identity using retention items. The results showed high acceptability and satisfaction with the strategies implemented.
