E-bikes and their capability to reduce car CO2 emissions

Ian Philips et al.

Summary: Through spatial microsimulation, we estimate the maximum potential for reducing CO2 emissions in England by substituting private car travel with e-bikes. The highest CO2 saving capability per person is found in rural areas and the rural urban fringe. E-bikes offer more modest CO2 saving potential in major conurbations.

Willingness to pay and attitudinal preferences of Indian consumers for electric vehicles

Prateek Bansal et al.

Summary: This study analyzes EV attributes and attitudinal factors of Indian car buyers, estimates Indian consumers' willingness to pay for EVs with improved attributes, and quantifies the effect of reference dependence on these estimates. The results suggest that accounting for reference dependence provides more realistic WTP estimates than the standard utility estimation approach.

The characteristics of the demand for electric scooters in Italy: An exploratory study

Mariangela Scorrano et al.

Summary: The study found that factors such as purchase price, fuel economy, annual taxation and insurance costs, driving range, engine power, country of manufacture, and the ability to remove the battery are statistically significant in influencing the choice between electric and petrol scooters in Italy. Despite government support, consumer preferences in Italy suggest that non-monetary factors and inadequate supply still limit the potential market share growth of electric scooters.

Modeling barriers to the adoption of electric vehicles: An Indian perspective

Vishal Singh Patyal et al.

Summary: This study aims to identify and examine the barriers affecting the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in India, and use modeling techniques to reveal the relationships among these barriers. The findings will provide guidance for policymakers to devise sustainable energy and transportation policies, and assist EV manufacturers in considering constraints at the design stage.

Assessment of gasoline consumption and greenhouse gas emission reduction on using battery electric two-wheeler in India

Sajan Jerome et al.

Summary: This study investigates the potential savings in gasoline consumption and reduction in CO2 emissions in India from the battery electric two-wheeler segment during the fiscal year 2021-2030. Replacing ICE two-wheelers with BE two-wheelers could lead to significant savings in gasoline and reduction in CO2 emissions, especially with stricter implementation of scrapping policies and increased use of non-fossil fuel-based sources for electricity generation.
