The Effect of Different Extraction Methods on Extraction Yield, Physicochemical Properties, and Volatile Compounds from Field Muskmelon Seed Oil

Huijun Zhang et al.

Summary: Field muskmelon seed oil was extracted using different methods and evaluated for their properties and composition. The results showed that Soxhlet extraction had the highest oil yield, while aqueous extraction had the highest acid and peroxide values. The extraction methods also affected the aroma composition, with Soxhlet extraction showing the strongest antioxidant properties.

Solid-Phase Microextraction-Gas Chromatography Analytical Strategies for Pesticide Analysis

Juan Aspromonte et al.

Summary: Pesticides have become a global concern due to their extensive use and the globalized commerce of agricultural goods. While their use in agricultural practices has advantages, misuse of pesticides poses threats to the environment and human health. The combination of solid-phase microextraction (SPME) with gas chromatography (GC) has emerged as an important method for pesticide analysis, offering the potential to minimize matrix effects and achieve low detection limits without requiring large amounts of solvents or lengthy procedures.

Ultrasound-Assisted Extraction of Phenolic Compounds from Adenaria floribunda Stem: Economic Assessment

Miguel Lopeda-Correa et al.

Summary: This study aimed to extract water-based extracts from A. floribunda stems using ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE), hot water extraction (HWE), and Soxhlet extraction, and performed an economic analysis. The results showed that Soxhlet extraction had the best performance in terms of extraction yield and total phenolic compounds (TPC). However, after conducting an economic assessment, UAE and HWE were found to have lower manufacturing costs compared to Soxhlet extraction.

Headspace Solid-Phase Microextraction Analysis of Volatile Components in Peanut Oil

Kai-Min Yang et al.

Summary: This study examined the differences in peanut oil aroma based on variety, roasting temperatures, and pressing components using HS-SPME combined with GC and GC-MS. The optimal conditions for extracting peanut oil were determined, and the primary compounds present in peanut oil were identified as pyrazines. The study also found that the content of certain compounds in peanut oil varied with roasting temperature and peanut variety, with pyrazine content increasing in some oils as roasting temperature increased.
