CO2 in indoor environments: From environmental and health risk to potential renewable carbon source

L. R. Lopez et al.

Summary: In developed countries, poor indoor air quality has a significant impact on human health. The burden of disease related to indoor air pollution leads to millions of premature deaths. CO2 is the most common indoor air pollutant, and its concentration can be higher indoors due to human activities. Despite ventilation efforts, controlling CO2 concentration below recommended levels is a challenge, with many indoor environments exceeding the threshold. This review explores the issues associated with poor indoor air quality and highlights the potential of indoor CO2 direct air capture to purify air and contribute to the circular economy.

Full solar spectrum driven CO2 conversion over S-Scheme natural mineral nanocomposite enhanced by LSPR effect

Yahui Liu et al.

Summary: A powder photocatalyst for CO2 conversion was prepared using MoO3-x quantum dots immobilized on acid modified palygorskite (H-Pal) nanocomposite, showing remarkable CO2 photoreduction performance. The MoO3-x QDs exhibited high LSPR effect induced by Ov, enabling efficient capture of NIR photons and building S-scheme heterostructure with H-Pal to enhance charge carrier separation. This work may provide a cost-effective strategy for practical application of artificial photosynthesis.

Understanding inclusive quantum dots hollow CN@CIZS heterojunction for enhanced photocatalytic CO2 reduction

Xiaofeng Wang et al.

Summary: The photocatalytic conversion of carbon dioxide (CO2) to fuel or useful chemicals is of great significance for energy and environmental issues. In this study, a hollow g-C3N4@Cu-In-Zn-S quantum dots (CN@CIZS QDs) photocatalytic heterojunction was successfully prepared using the method of electrostatic self-assembly. The hollow structure, multiple exciton effect of the quantum dots, and the discrepancy of band structure contribute to excellent photocatalytic performance. The research provides a feasible green approach for the resource utilization of CO2.
