Summary: Flexor tendon rupture after volar plate fixation of distal radius fracture is rare and mainly caused by mechanical factors. Studies suggest that plate positioning beyond the watershed line, consolidation with posterior tilt, plate thickness, or low palmar cortical angle may lead to flexor tendon rupture. Hardware should be removed promptly if impingement or signs of tenosynovitis are present postoperatively.

Volar RIM Plate Rarely Causes Flexor Tendon Complications in a Short Period Despite Its Plate Prominence over the Watershed Line: A Descriptive Study
