3D printable electroconductive gelatin-hyaluronic acid materials containing polypyrrole nanoparticles for electroactive tissue engineering

Aleksandra Serafin et al.

Summary: Electrically conductive Gel:HA:PPy-NP scaffolds were synthesized by combining polypyrrole nanoparticles (PPy NP) with a gelatin/hyaluronic acid (HA) hydrogel. These scaffolds have excellent mechanical properties and conductive capabilities, making them a promising option for tissue engineering in nervous tissue regeneration.

A facile approach to fabricate load-bearing porous polymer scaffolds for bone tissue engineering

Tairong Kuang et al.

Summary: A simple, non-toxic, and cost-effective method was developed to fabricate high-strength and oriented porous biodegradable scaffolds. By integrating annealing treatment, pressure-induced flow processing, and particulate leaching techniques, the obtained scaffolds exhibited highly oriented pore structures and suitable pore connectivity. The scaffolds showed improved mechanical properties and good biocompatibility, making them suitable for load-bearing bone tissue applications.

Biodegradable and injectable poly(vinyl alcohol) microspheres in silk sericin-based hydrogel for the controlled release of antimicrobials: application to deep full-thickness burn wound healing

Bianza Moise Bakadia et al.

Summary: This study developed an injectable hydrogel composed of silk sericin, poly(vinyl alcohol), and microspheres containing vancomycin and gentamicin for the treatment of infected deep full-thickness burn wounds. The combination of gentamicin and vancomycin showed synergistic activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. The microspheres had a smooth surface and were suitable for parenteral drug delivery. The hydrogel with 10% microspheres exhibited good elasticity and injectability. The incorporation of vancomycin-gentamicin-loaded microspheres in the hydrogel resulted in controlled release and effective antimicrobial effects. In vivo experiments demonstrated that the VG-PVAMS@PVA/SS hydrogel had better therapeutic effects compared to drug-free PVAMS@PVA/SS hydrogel and Tegaderm film dressing, promoting early vascularization and wound closure.

Effect of poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) adsorption on the dispersion features of SiC particles in aqueous media

Yifan Niu et al.

Summary: The study showed that PDADMAC is an effective dispersant, leading to a low viscosity SiC suspension. The presence of SiO2 on the surface of SiC powder allows for successful adsorption of PDADMAC, resulting in positively charged SiC powders and high stability suspension through an electrosteric stabilization mechanism.
