Atomically Dispersed Zn-Pyrrolic-N4 Cathode Catalysts for Hydrogen Fuel Cells

Non-Noble-Metal Catalyst and Zn/Graphene Film for Low-Cost and Ultra-Long-Durability Solid-State Zn-Air Batteries in Harsh Electrolytes

Summary: In this study, the classical Fe3C-NG catalysts were synthesized and investigated for their catalytic and degradation behaviors in Zn-Air batteries. The study found that the Mott-Schottky heterojunction formed by Fe3C quantum dots and N-doped graphene carbon boosts the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) by providing rapid electron transfer. Additionally, the graphene structure in NG was found to be stable in corrosive electrolytes, preventing the corrosion of Fe3C quantum dots. Combining the catalyst with a Zn/graphene composite film and solid-state electrolyte resulted in a high-performance and stable Zn-air battery.

Site-density engineering of single-atomic iron catalysts for high-performance proton exchange membrane fuel cells

Summary: A novel polydopamine-metal complex-assisted pyrolysis strategy was used to produce catalysts with hierarchically porous carbon support and highly exposed dense-FeN4 sites, leading to significantly enhanced performance for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and superior power densities in proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). The quantitative relationship between the active site activity and ORR performance was established, highlighting the dominating role of FeN4 site density in the observed excellent PEMFC performance. This work provides a useful guidance for the design and development of novel highly-efficient single-atomic catalysts for renewable energy applications.

Synchronous bi-modulation by nanoclusters and single atoms for high-efficient oxygen reduction electrocatalysis

Summary: Developing single-atom catalysts with robust performance for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is crucial, but their unsatisfactory intrinsic activity remains a challenge. This study uses density functional theory simulation to show that synchronous bi-modulation by Co nanoclusters and Zn single atoms improves the intrinsic activity of Co single atom sites. Inspired by these findings, a multiscale catalyst with highly-dispersed Co/Zn metal atoms and nanoclusters anchored on a porous N-doped carbon skeleton is successfully synthesized. The resulting catalyst exhibits remarkable ORR performance and high stability in alkaline media, outperforming many nonprecious metal-based catalysts and the benchmark Pt/C catalyst.

Intermetallic FePt@PtBi Core-Shell Nanoparticles for Oxygen Reduction Electrocatalysis

P-Block Atomically Dispersed Antimony Catalyst for Highly Efficient Oxygen Reduction Reaction
