Effects of Fe and graphite on friction and wear properties of brake friction materials for high-speed and heavy-duty vehicles

Summary: Friction materials were prepared using the powder metallurgy process with varying proportions of iron and graphite powders. The friction and wear properties of the materials were evaluated using the MM3000 friction and wear tester. By combining scanning electron microscopy and physical and mechanical properties testing, the synergistic effect of Fe powder and graphite on the properties of the friction materials was studied. The results showed that increasing the iron content enhanced the hardness and strength of the materials, and the optimal comprehensive properties were achieved with 14% Fe content and 20% graphite powder.

Effect of aging plus cryogenic treatment on the machinability of 7075 aluminum alloy

The results show that cryogenic treatment reduces the cutting force and leads to smaller grain size and more precipitates in the aluminum matrix. Fabrication of C/SiC composites by siliconizing carbon fiber reinforced nanoporous carbon matrix preforms and their properties

Summary: RMI-C/SiC composites fabricated using a carbon fiber reinforced nanoporous carbon matrix preform demonstrate high performance with dense and pure SiC matrix and intact carbon fibers. In contrast, composites based on conventional pyrocarbon or resin carbon matrixes show poorer properties with less SiC, residual silicon and carbon, and corroded fibers. This work opens up a new way for the development of high-performance ceramic matrix composites by siliconizing C/C preforms with nanoporous carbon matrix.

Experimental investigation on interlaminar and in-plane shear damage evolution of 2D C/SiC composites using acoustic emission and X-ray computed microtomography

The results showed high adsorption capacity and efficiency for Pb(II) and Cd(II) ions. Furthermore, the adsorbent exhibited strong antibacterial activity against various bacterial strains.

Theoretical study of novel B-C-O compounds with non-diamond isoelectronic

Evaluating the potential of graphene-like boron nitride as a promising cathode for Mg-ion batteries

Vibration analysis of size dependent micro FML cylindrical shell reinforced by CNTs based on modified couple stress theory

The non-classical equations of motion were derived based on Love's first approximation theory. The results showed that the frequencies were directly dependent on the increase of material length scale parameter and the agglomeration parameters.

Isolated Ni atoms induced edge stabilities and equilibrium shapes of CVD-prepared hexagonal boron nitride on the Ni(111) surface

Summary: The stability of h-BN edges terminated by isolated Ni atoms on the Ni(111) surface was investigated, and it was found that most edges terminated by isolated Ni atoms have lower energies and the zigzag edge terminated with nitrogen atoms (ZZN) is the most stable one. Based on these results and Wulff construction theory, the equilibrium morphology of h-BN domains in different environments was predicted. The understanding of the stability of h-BN edges is crucial for revealing its growth mechanism and has implications for the synthesis of other two-dimensional binary materials.
