Socioeconomic inequalities in pediatric obstructive sleep apnea

Summary: This study examines the association between socioeconomic status (SES) and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in a Canadian pediatric population. It finds that low household-level SES is associated with both frequency and severity of OSA in children, with maternal education showing the most consistent and significant associations. Geographic location is also associated with the occurrence and severity of OSA, with nonurban children having less frequency and severity. Perceived SES has minimal inverse association with the outcomes.

Summary: This study aimed to identify the clinical and traffic factors that influence pediatric pedestrian versus automobile collisions, with a focus on health care disparities. The findings revealed that a larger proportion of Hispanic children injured in P-ACs lived in neighborhoods with more socioeconomic disadvantage. Poor streetlight conditions and close proximity to home were associated with the most socioeconomically disadvantaged neighborhoods.
