Screening of microRNA and mRNA related to secondary hair follicle morphogenesis and development and functional analysis in cashmere goats

Summary: This study investigated the expression profiles of miRNA and mRNA in cashmere goat fetal skin, and identified miRNAs and mRNAs related to the development of secondary hair follicles. Enrichment analysis revealed that some miRNA target genes were consistent with the screened mRNAs and enriched in Notch and TGF-beta signaling pathways. A regulatory network for the development of secondary hair follicles was constructed, and a targeted relationship between miR-30e-5p and DLL4 was confirmed. This study provides insights into the molecular mechanism of miRNA-mRNA in the development of hair follicles in cashmere goats.

Copy Number Variations Contribute to Intramuscular Fat Content Differences by Affecting the Expression of PELP1 Alternative Splices in Pigs

Summary: In this study, a genome-wide association study was conducted to investigate the relationship between copy number variations (CNVs) and intramuscular fat (IMF) in a pig F2 resource population. The results identified 19 CNVRs significantly associated with IMF. Further analysis indicated that CNV150, located on the 3' UTR end of the PELP1 gene, may affect the expression of alternative splices of PELP1 and ultimately impact the structure of PELP1 protein. These findings provide a novel mechanistic approach for improving meat quality in animals and potentially treating insulin resistance in humans.

Identification of the Key Genes Associated with Different Hair Types in the Inner Mongolia Cashmere Goat

Summary: A weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA) was conducted on gene expression and phenotypic data of Inner Mongolia cashmere goats with long-hair and short-hair types to explore the molecular mechanisms and regulatory genes of different hair types. The results showed a strong correlation between one gene module and different hair types, with different expression trends observed between the two types. The GO functions of this module were mainly concentrated in cellular components, while the KEGG pathways were enriched in arginine and proline metabolism and the MAPK signaling pathway. Nine candidate genes were identified as significantly different between the two hair types, with most of them showing a positive correlation with hair length. These candidate genes are believed to regulate the different hair types of cashmere goats and provide molecular markers for hair growth.
