Capturing the fungal community associated with conventional and organic Trebbiano Abruzzese grapes and its influence on wine characteristics

Alessio Pio Rossetti et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of conventional and organic management on the fungal community of Vitis vinifera cv. Trebbiano Abruzzese. Spontaneous vinifications were performed, and the wines were analyzed for oenological parameters and aroma profiles. The results showed that different vineyard management practices affected the composition of fungal communities in the grapes, which in turn influenced the characteristics of the resulting wines, such as ethanol content and aroma compounds.

Impact of vineyard management on grape fungal community and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wine quality

Giorgia Perpetuini et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of farming practices on the diversity of grape fungal community and the microbial metabolic activity. The results showed that agronomic management system influenced the composition of fungal community and the potential functionality of microbial community. Organic and biodynamic grapes had higher microbial diversity and metabolic function. The wine characteristics were also affected by farming practices, including the content of sugars, alcohol, and volatile compounds.

Parentage Atlas of Italian Grapevine Varieties as Inferred From SNP Genotyping

Claudio D'Onofrio et al.

Summary: The Italian grape germplasm is characterized by a high level of richness in terms of varieties number, originating largely from a few central varieties distributed into several areas of genetic influence. The pedigree reconstruction highlighted the key role of some cultivars, suggesting a hypothetical migration of certain varieties within the Italian Peninsula.

The Potential Effect of β-Ionone and β-Damascenone on Sensory Perception of Pinot Noir Wine Aroma

Elizabeth Tomasino et al.

Summary: This study investigated the direct impact of beta-ionone and beta-damascenone on Pinot noir wine aroma perception. Results showed that beta-ionone significantly contributed to the aromas in Pinot noir wine, with different aroma descriptors affected depending on the wine matrix. The effect of beta-damascenone on Pinot noir aroma was less clear, possibly influenced by wine matrix composition.
