Summary: This retrospective study found that 'dry tap' occurred in 9.7% of cases during real-time USG spinal injection using the PMSO ultrasound window, with the patient in the lateral decubitus position and the spinal needle inserted from the nondependent side. However, successful spinal anesthesia was achieved in all patients in this study.

Other secondary outcomes such as the first skin puncture success rate and incidence of bloody tap favored the use of ultrasound.
