Synthesis of wool roll-like silver nanoflowers in an ethanol/water mixture and their application to detect traces of the fungicide carbendazim by SERS technique

Manh Cuong Nguyen et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the synthesis of wool roll-like silver nanoflowers (AgNFs) using a mixed ethanol/water solution, which reduces the size of AgNFs and enhances the SERS substrate. The smaller size of AgNFs leads to higher intensity of characteristic bands in SERS spectrum of carbendazim (CBZ), allowing for detection at lower concentrations.

Chemically Etched Nanoporous Copper and Galvanically Displaced Silver Nanoflowers for SERS Sensing

Manikantan Sajitha et al.

Summary: This study presents a simple method for preparing SERS substrates using brass. Treatment of brass first selectively etches Zn from the surface, leaving a uniform Cu nanoporous substrate, which is then galvanically displaced with AgNO3 resulting in overgrowth of silver nanocrystals. SERS studies with probe molecules and biomarkers demonstrated significant performance improvement.

Physically Unclonable Surfaces via Dewetting of Polymer Thin Films

Neslihan Torun et al.

Summary: There is a strong demand for encoded surfaces with multiple security layers that are prepared by stochastic processes and are adaptable to deterministic fabrication approaches. Dewetting instabilities in nanoscopic polymer films present a suitable platform for fabricating unclonable surfaces, with the thermal annealing-induced dewetting of P2VP enabling fabrication of randomly positioned functional features that are separated at a microscopic length scale. The patterning of P2VP films presents opportunities for fabricating hybrid security labels, which can be resolved through both stochastic and deterministic pathways, offering key opportunities in encoding applications.

Flexible and Biocompatible Physical Unclonable Function Anti-Counterfeiting Label

Yan-Wei Hu et al.

Summary: Biocompatible and flexible optical PUF labels have been developed by embedding microdiamonds in silk fibroin films, providing protection against counterfeit products and complex shaped objects. The silk fibroin films serve as a flexible and biocompatible substrate, while the Raman signal of the microdiamonds acts as the response mechanism, ensuring high stability and random distribution of PUFs with a maximum encoding capability of 2(10000). The cytotoxicity analysis results confirm the biosafety of the PUF system, and the labels have shown promising practical applications on various surfaces including polyethylene material, human skin, and even implanted under chicken skin tissue.
