Juxtaposing fresh material characterisation methods for buildability assessment of 3D printable cementitious mortars

F. P. Bos et al.

Summary: This study compared the buildability of four different mortars through a series of tests, revealing significant differences in their development characteristics, even when composed of the same dry materials. The research found that strength values could only be correlated by assuming significant friction angles associated with Mohr-Coulomb failure behavior, and proposed a novel method to establish this correlation. Additionally, normalized parameters such as compressive strength and pulse velocity were found to be inconsistent and time/mixture-dependent, adding complexity to quality control and the development of generalized methods for cementitious mortar characterization.
