Summary: By studying Greater Sydney and a group of coastal cities in NSW, Australia, we found strong house price linkage between Greater Sydney and the Illawarra region cities, while no similar evidence was found for the Hunter region cities. The results indicate that strong spatial connectivity contributes to the convergence of housing markets, and housing prices flow exclusively from Greater Sydney to the coastal cities. This has significant implications for policymakers seeking to address imbalances between centres and growth areas.
