Evidence from ClinicalTrials.gov on the growth of Digital Health Technologies in neurology trials

Summary: Digital Health Technologies (DHTs), such as connected sensors, show great potential in improving data collection and empowering patients in neurology research and care. This study examines the recent use of DHTs in trials for four chronic neurological disorders (epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's disease). The findings reveal an increase in the collection of both established and novel digital measures, highlighting their usage contexts and important trends.

Decentralized clinical trials (DCTs) have been proposed as a potential solution to reduce barriers and attract a wider range of participants, but their impact on participant inclusivity remains to be seen. Digital studies aiming to address a single element of inclusion may inadvertently lead to unintended consequences in other areas. Implementing DCTs presents new challenges such as the digital divide and the need to build new infrastructure.

Data quality evaluation in wearable monitoring

Summary: This study proposes a combined data quality assessment tool for evaluating multimodal wearable data in seizure monitoring. Data from epilepsy patients were analyzed, and it was found that all modalities were affected by artifacts, with higher data loss when using data streaming. Security, Privacy, and Usability in Continuous Authentication: A Survey
