Compression-tolerant supercapacitor based on NiCo2O4/Ti3C2Tx MXene/reduced graphene oxide composite aerogel with insights from density functional theory simulations

Summary: Compression-tolerant NiCo2O4 microtubes assembled on/in Ti3C2Tx MXene/reduced graphene oxide aerogel (MGA) exhibit high compressive strain, durability, and electrochemical performance. The NCO/MGA-300 electrode demonstrates a gravimetric capacitance of 1633F g-1, rate performance of 1492F g-1, and cycling stability of 86.6% after 10,000 charge-discharging cycles. Furthermore, an assembled asymmetric supercapacitor based on compressible NCO/MGA-300 shows stable electrochemical performances under different compressive strains or after 100 compression-release cycles.

WS2-embedded MXene/GO hybrid nanosheets as electrodes for asymmetric supercapacitors and hydrogen evolution reactions

Investigation of 2D Boridene from First Principles and Experiments

Summary: This study investigates the termination composition and material properties of Mo4/3B2-xTz from both theoretical and experimental perspectives. It is found that Mo4/3B2-xTz is dynamically stable and can exhibit semiconducting, semimetallic, or metallic behavior depending on the combination of different terminations. The approximate chemical formula of a freestanding film of boridene is determined as Mo1.33B1.9O0.3(OH)(1.5)F-0.7. Furthermore, Mo4/3B2-xTz shows high catalytic performance for the hydrogen evolution reaction.

SnS2@Conducting Energy Level-Induced Functionalized Boron Nitride for an Asymmetric Supercapacitor

Engineering the active sites tuned MoS2 nanoarray structures by transition metal doping for hydrogen evolution and supercapacitor applications

The modified morphological properties, enriched surface area, and plentiful active edges were established for the metal doped MoS2, leading to improved hydrogen evolution and supercapacitor performance.

An aqueous 2.1 V pseudocapacitor with MXene and V-MnO2 electrodes

This study demonstrates the potential of using MXene electrodes to expand the working voltage window of traditional redox-capable materials.

MXenes and other 2D nanosheets for modification of polyamide thin film nanocomposite membranes for desalination

Summary: Thin film composite (TFC) membranes have been widely used in water treatment and desalination. In recent years, two-dimensional nanosheets such as graphene oxide, metal-organic frameworks, and boron nitride have been introduced into the structure of thin film nanocomposite (TFN) membranes to improve performance and morphology. This review focuses on the use of MXenes and other 2D nanosheets in polyamide thin film membranes for desalination. The intercalated and interlayered thin film nano composite (ITFN) membranes, where nanomaterials are sandwiched between layers, are also discussed. Different transport mechanisms are explored.

The study also reveals that tungsten vacancies are the dominant intrinsic defects in mono- and bilayers of WS2.

Polyindole Booster for Ti3C2Tx MXene Based Symmetric and Asymmetric Supercapacitor Devices

Ultrafast rechargeable Zn micro-batteries endowing a wearable solar charging system with high overall efficiency

Facilitating electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution via multifunctional tungsten@tungsten disulfide core-shell nanospheres
